Welcome to Summer Religious Education at UUSS!

Our last classroom day of the 2010-11 church year is May 22, 2011, with one service and RE at 10:00 AM.

This summer we will again offer our popular ArtWorks! program for children entering first through fifth grade.

Members of the Congregation who are involved in a variety of styles of artistic expression will share both their skills and spiritual energy with the children. We are looking forward to folk dancing, yoga and storytelling, and a number of other artistic outlets for our children to explore.

Junior High and Senior High age youth have the choice of attending the Sunday Service or acting as teaching assistants/mentors in the ArtWorks! classroom

ArtWorks! allows our children to learn new skills, gain an understanding of the spiritual aspect of the arts, and get to know members of the Congregation whom they might not otherwise meet. Summer RE operates as a “one room schoolhouse” with all the schoolage children and youth working and learning together. We feel that working and playing together helps to build relationships that transcend age allowing our kids to feel that they truly belong in our community here at UUSS.

Children age 5 and under are welcome to stay in our Childcare Room (room 11) during the Service. There they can play indoors and out under the watchful and caring direction of Susan and LeeAnna, our skillful Childcare Providers. Young children may also stay with their family during Service if desired.

Summer RE starts on June 5 and continues through August 21, with a Play Day on July 3 and attendance at an All Ages Service (presented by the church’s Theater One team) on July 31.

Questions?? Please contact Miranda Massa, Religious Education Assistant, or the Family Minister.  See my article about last year’s ArtWorks! program at this link.
